LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Annie Parisse, who has played Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Borgia on NBC's "Law & Order" for just over a year, will leave the veteran crime drama at season's end, sources said.

A network spokesman declined comment, saying that "it is the producers' desire to keep the season finale of 'Law & Order' under wraps because of some surprising developments."

I don't think it's really her fault. They could never decide on who she was as a lawyer -- her character -- point of view. All the other assistant DAs had very specific belief systems that were challenged in the tenure. She seems to sway whatever way the wind goes. And no she can't stand up to Jack lke Jamie did (my personal fav).

She's not a bad actress, but I think she's been written into a corner...

oh yes completely - I think she is a fine actress! But her character became unlikable to me... I think you are right on with the "swaying whichever way" She became very opinated but so inconsistent. blech

I think Annie Parisse is a dreadful ADA. She couldn't seem to "get with the program", and you always knew she was trying too hard to fit into her scenes. NBC needs to stop thinking about how beautiful and thin their ADAs can be, and start putting some thought into making the ADA a complex character with feelings, doubts, and personal experience to fall back on. Annie Parisse was a fine soap opera actress, but she can't hold down the character for more than a few lines -- much like soap operas.

Forget about finding another Barbie doll to take Annie's place. Bring in someone like Paul Robinette (Richard Brooks) and let him go head-to-head with Jack and Arthur! The writers should put Falco (Michael Imperioli) through law school and set him loose as an ADA. Could you just picture Christopher Moltisani as an ADA? Oh, the possibilities.

i don't get the self-righteous feeling from her - but then i think the queen and king of self-righteous behavior would HAVE to be angie harmon's character (bloodthirsty prosecuter deluxe) and the ultimate self-righteous hypocrite king of all time - benjamin bratt's character - never been happier than the day he went bye-bye!!!

I kind of enjoyed watching Rey Curtis thrash around trying to reconcile his knee-jerk conservative ethics with what he had to face everyday on the job. It was funny at times. I sympathized with his character perhaps more than you did...:)

His character reeaaallly irritated me. Reeeeeaaaalllly.
Angie's did too at first. She grew on me. Not Bratt's character. I was also thrilled when he left.

I was really into Abby Carmichael at first. I was happy to see a "dog-toothed litigator", as a friend of mine described her. But then the writers started messing with her and putting her in situations where she was beat down and I wasn't as happy with those episodes.

my favorite has always been the blondie that preceded Annie Parisse and i've had a hard time getting on board with Annie for that reason...going from the blond bombshell to the dark princess...my eyes couldn't adjust. i'll never forget blondie's final episode when she was fired...and her only question was: this isn't because i'm a lesbian, is it? man, where did that come from? knocked my socks off...too funny.

bothered me that i couldn't remember blondie's name: elizabeth rohm. and then i went back to remember the episode. here's a pretty precise review of it:

              "Jumps the Shark"

The famous "Is this because I'm a lesbian?" episode, mostly notable for this out-of-the-blue quote and not so much for Serena Southerlyn's firing.

D.A. Arthur Branch: [to Serena] "You're fired."
ADA Serena Southerlyn: [pauses, shocked] "Is this because I'm a lesbian?"
D.A. Arthur Branch: "No, no... of course not."
ADA Serena Southerlyn: [staring blankly out the window] "Good... that's good..."

Nobody remembers anything else that happened in this episode, and perhaps it's just as well. It would be nice if the show had laid some groundwork and provided some backstory for this line (delivered without irony--or emotion--by Elisabeth Röhm), but they did not; that just makes it even funnier.

Viewers received it with a resounding "Huh? Come again?" and the Internet chat rooms and discussion forums lit up like Christmas trees. If Ms. Röhm has contributed nothing else to the show (and opinion varies on that point), she has certainly created one of its' most memorable moments.

Thanks to "Is this because I'm a lesbian?", "Aint No Love" is now one of the best (or worst) episodes of "Law & Order" (including the spinoffs) of all time, and also deserves to be ranked as one of the "Most Shocking TV Moments Ever". My rating: 10/10.

P.S. I also considered these classifications:

              Silly
              Out of character
              Alternate reality
              Adventurous
              A very special episode
              Character development
              Painful to watch
              Dream sequence
              Series classic
              Bottom of the barrel
              Nerve-wracking

But I think "Jumps the shark" says it all, don't you?
